Andrew Peck is a Consultant member of Borneos LLP and is based in the Milton Keynes office. He has over 20 years partner level experience with regional law firms dealing with corporate employment and company commercial law issues.
Andrew has primarily advised employers (local regional national and international companies), together with senior executives on recruitment or termination, on all aspects of the rights and obligations of their workforce. Employing people, selection and recruitment, employment contracts and their variation, problem solving, managing performance absence and conduct, disciplinary and grievance procedures, business transfers, the application of TUPE, the end of the road, redundancy (individual and collective), dismissal, settlements, legislative change, the impact of EU law on UK employers and emerging issues with the emphasis on keeping employers out of trouble.
The 2002 Edition of the ‘Legal 500’ publication commented in the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire section that ‘Andrew Peck leads a capable team’ which stood out for ‘contentious and non-contentious employment law practice…Andrew Peck is highly capable’ whilst the 2003 Edition comments that ‘many clients cite ..Andrew.. their number one for employment law’. He was previously a regular speaker at seminars and workshops on employment law issues, and has been a regular contributor over many years, to various publications including ‘Health and Safety at Work’ and has had numerous articles in local and regional business magazines on employment law including a weekly column in the national ‘Job Hunters Guide’ advising it’s readers on employment law problems. He has appeared in ‘Legal Network Television’ (LNTV) training videos on TUPE and effective marketing.
Born in Ipswich, educated at Northampton Grammar School, De Montfort University and the College of Law, articled with Kent Jones and Done he qualified as a Solicitor in 1985 and has respectively practiced with Bridgeman Morris (1985-1987), Heald Nickinson (1987-1990) and Fennemores (1990-2004).
In August 2002 Andrew was honoured by De Montfort University with the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the community.
He is a member of the Industrial Law Society, Employment Lawyers Association and the Equality Exchange. He has been heavily involved to Chair level with regional development, business, educational and charitable bodies and holds a number of voluntary and charitable based appointments including; a director and trustee of the Safety Centre (Hazard Alley) Ltd and Safety Learning and Dicovery Centre Ltd; a member of the Council of the Open University; member of the Thames Valley Police, Milton Keynes Police Committee; independant co-opted Member of the Audit Committee of Milton Keynes Council; and holds a public appointment as the Milton Keynes Local Strategic Partnership nominated Business Member of the Milton Keynes Partnership Committee where he is Deputy Chair. Formerly he has been Company Secretary of Milton Keynes Theatre and Gallery Company (1990-2007); Governor of Milton Keynes College (1995-2007) and Chair of Governors (2001-2007); Chair of the Milton Keynes Large Employers Association; Chair of the Milton Keynes Economic Partnership (now the MK Economy and Learning Partnership) and a director of Milton Keynes and North Bucks Chamber of Commerce and Countec Ltd.
In addition to family pursuits Andrew is interested in travel literature, photography, country walking with his black Labrador, and is an armchair supporter of Ipswich Town FC.
